Vetting laws, Constitutional Court postponed the session until Monday
28/09/2017 - 18:00

The Constitutional Court gathered today to review the complaints by the association of judges and the union of judges for some articles of the vetting law.

The court decided to postpone the session until Monday, after the majority’s request not to accept the legal representative of the Union of Judges.

According to the majority, the legal representative does not have the appropriate lawyer’s license.

“Based on the law, only a certain few lawyers have the right to represent in the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court.

“There are some internal procedures regarding how the national association of judges and the union of judges function in connection to appeals filed to the Constitutional Court” – declared the legal representative of majority, Vasilika Hysi.

Under these conditions, the court decided to allow time for the association of judges and the union of judges to find another lawyer.

The association and union of judges have appealed 23 articles of the vetting law to constitutional court.
